The Conservative Party has responded to Suella Braverman’s Claims that Nigel Farage should be welcomed into the Party. Here’s the full story.
Braverman Wishes Tories Would “Welcome” Farage
Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman recently claimed that the Conservative Party should “Welcome” Nigel Farage, causing a stir.
Home Secretary Responds to Farage Suggestions
The Conservative’s Home Secretary, James Cleverly, has given his verdict on whether the former Brexit Party leader should be considered for the Tories.
Farage Will Never Be Welcomed
Cleverly assured the public that Nigel Farage, leader of right-wing Party Reform UK, will never be welcomed into the Conservatives, while not mincing his words on the politician.
Comparing Policies
Braverman suggested that the current Conservative policies do not stray too far from Reform UK’s, arguing that the Tories should give Nigel a try.
“I Would Welcome Nigel”
“I would welcome Nigel into the Conservative Party. There’s not much difference really between him and many of the policies that we stand for,” Braverman insisted, before Cleverly’s fiery reply.
Farage’s Wild Antics
Cleverly’s response was vehemently against this idea, arguing that Farage’s antics were akin to that of a petulant child.
Farage’s “Attention” Problem
According to Cleverly, “He does these things to get attention. And, just like a spoiled child, I don’t think he should be rewarded for doing so.”
Disregarding Farage’s Displays
Cleverly argued that when Farage talks, he “disregards” most of what he says as attention seeking, claiming that the politician is nothing but a “showman.”
Cleverly Not Playing “Nigel’s Game”
“He does things and says things so broadcasters like you ask serious politicians like me questions like this. And, the bottom line is, I’m just not going to play Nigel’s game,” he said.
Farage Looking to “Destroy” Conservatives
According to the current Home Secretary, Farage has “made it clear” he is willing to “destroy” the Conservative Party.
Farage’s Alleged Disguise
Despite Farage claiming to be a man of the people, with many of his supporters believing so, Cleverly asserted that Farage wanted to “hurt the British people.”
The Farage Effect
However, Braverman’s claims come at a time when Reform UK experienced ‘the Farage effect, ‘ catapulting the Party up the polls.
Farage’s U-Turn on General Election
Recently, Nigel Farage made a U-Turn on his decision not to run in the election, making a shock announcement that he would be running, with another surprise up his sleeve.
Farage Takes Leadership
Farage announced that he would not only be running in the election but also taking over from Richard Tice as Reform’s leader.
Voters Jump to Reform
Since Farage took over as Reform’s leader, the polls suggest voters have jumped from voting Conservative to voting for Reform UK.
Reform’s Rise in The Polls
Reform UK is now on 17 percentage points in the latest YouGov poll, moving up two points and placing them just behind the Conservatives, who experienced a loss.
Reform Two Points Behind Conservatives
The Conservatives lost two points and, despite still being in second place behind Labour, are only two points ahead of Reform UK, showing huge vulnerability.
Braverman Would be Welcomed Into Reform
Suella Braverman has a good relationship with Reform, as former leader Richard Tice said he would welcome Braverman into the Party after her controversial comments on Islam.
Braverman’s Future With Reform
These comments from both sides suggest that Braverman potentially has a future in Reform UK, rather than Farage having a future in the Tory Party.
