King Writes to Trump
The King has sent a personal letter to Donald Trump after the failed assassination attempt on the former president.
Failed Assassination Attempt
Trump received King Charles’ letter following a near-fatal shooting that clipped the former President’s ear.
Delivered to Washington
It’s unclear exactly what the message said, although it was delivered to Washington DC from the UK embassy.
Prime Minister’s Message
According to the reports, the letter was following on from Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s message to Trump following the incident.
Starmer “Appalled”
Sir Starmer condemned the assassination attempt and claimed he was “appalled” that someone would attempt to take a Presidential candidate’s life.
Speaking Directly to Trump
Sir Starmer, who spoke directly to Donald Trump shortly after the incident, expressed there was “no place” for that in politics.
Best Wishes to Trump
“I am appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s rally and we send him and his family our best wishes,” Sir Starmer said.
Thoughts With the Victims
“Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack,” the Prime Minister said.
Fatality and Multiple Injuries
One person tragically died during the attack, former fire chief Corey Comperatore, with two people in critical condition.
Gunman Neutralised
The gunman himself was neutralised at the scene. He has been confirmed as a registered Republican.
British Political Leaders Respond
Other British political leaders commented on the incident, with Foreign Secretary David Lammy condemning “all forms of political violence in the strongest terms”.
“Horrific Attack” Condemned
Leader of the House of Commons, Lucy Powell, condemned the “horrific attack” on Trump “completely and fulsomely.”
Nigel Farage “Not Shocked”
Friend of Donald Trump and leader of Reform UK, Nigel Farage, also commented on the incident claiming that he was “not shocked.”
Trump “Only Just” Got Away With It
“I’m obviously pleased that my friend Donald has got away with it, only just, but he’s got away with it,” Farage admitted.
Farage Commentates
“But one person is dead, two more are fighting for their lives in hospital so it’s an absolutely horrendous incident and yet somehow I’m not shocked by it,” Farage claimed.
Blaming the Liberals
Nigel Farage, former leader of UKIP, blamed the liberals for the assassination attempt, claiming their rhetoric incites potential assassinations.
Liberals “Encouraged” Shooting
According to Farage, “The narrative that is put out there about Trump by the liberals that oppose him is so nasty… that I think it almost encourages this type of behaviour.”
Trump Releases Statement
Trump has released a statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, describing how he wants the country to respond to the incident.
Bringing the US Together
The presidential candidate claimed that he wanted the nation to come together despite the act of violence put on him.
Building Special Relationship
