A heckler abused Nigel Farage and tainted the atmosphere of his first speech as an MP, calling him a “racist”.
Farage Wins Seat in Election
After becoming an MP for the first time in his career, Nigel Farage issued his speech, but it came with a surprise.
A New Face in House of Commons
Farage, 60, won his seat in Clacton, Essex and will now feature in the House of Commons for the first time in his career, although some are not happy about it.
Farage Gives Victory Speech
While he was celebrating his victory in Clacton, Farage gave a speech to commemorate the occasion, although some uninvited guests made their voices heard.
Farage Branded “Racist”
During his speech, members of the crowd shouted abuse at the former UKIP leader, calling him a “racist” while others went one step further.
Hecklers Make Presence Aware
As several hecklers made their voices clear during the speech, another insisted that Farage does not “represent the working class.”
Farage’s Response
Farage responded in the way he knows best, by mentioning the pub. The leader of Reform UK accused the heckler of being drunk.
Accusing Heckler of Drinking
Farage told the heckler, “Are you downwind a couple already? You’ve had a bigger lunch than I have,” claiming that the man had been drinking.
Positive Crowd Response
Farage asked the crowd, “Cor, he’s absolutely steaming, isn’t he?” He gained some laughter from the crowd.
Classic Farage Response
Farage then finished his humorous response with, “That’s all right, there’s still plenty of beer left in the pub, mate.”
Farage’s Pub Antics
Farage’s fascination with the pub extends into much of the work he does in front of the camera in an attempt to relate to the working class.
Pub Rhetoric Continues
When Farage met Lee Anderson for the first time since both candidates won seats, Farage joked that Lee now had a “new drinking buddy.”
Anderson Booted Out of Tories
Farage is not the only one to be accused of racist behaviour in the Party, as former Tory MP Lee Anderson was booted out of the Party for his Islamophobic rhetoric.
Anderson Retains Seat
Anderson, who retained his seat in his Nottingham constituency of Ashfield, became the first Reform UK member to become an MP for the Party.
Reform Wins Four Seats
Soon, he was joined by three other Reform members as the Party won four seats in the House of Commons.
Reform’s Seats Announced
Anderson was later joined by Nigel Farage, former Reform leader Richard Tice and former Brexit Party MEP Rupert Lowe, making up Reform’s four seats.
Farage Under Fire
Nigel Farage came under fire just before the election after one of Reform’s canvassers was caught on camera making racist comments.
Violent Immigration Comments
The volunteer canvasser, Andrew Parker, argued that the military should be called up to “shoot” migrants trying to enter the country, but that wasn’t all.
Racial Slur Towards Prime Minister
Parker also made a racial slur towards former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, causing the Party to drop significantly in the polls.
Farage’s Public Promise
Reform’s reputation was dented, and Farage was forced to promise to stamp out the far right from his Party.
Was Farage Serious?
Now, the public will see whether Farage was serious about his promise as he becomes a member of Parliament.
