A Labour spokesperson insisted that Starmer demands the highest ethical standards from his staff, which is what the public expects.

The spokesperson claimed, “With Keir Starmer as leader, the Labour party upholds the highest standards for our parliamentary candidates.”
Acting “Immediately”
Because of these standards, the Party has suspended Craig. The spokesperson insisted, “We have acted immediately in this case.”
Tory Party Members Found Guilty
The news came the week after it was revealed that four Tory members were caught betting on the election date using inside knowledge.
Sunak Reacts to Betting Scandal
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reacted to the news that two of his Party representatives and two of his security team were betting.
Sunak’s Potential Punishment
Sunak insisted that anyone found guilty of breaking the betting rules would be punished as harshly as possible.
Members to Face the Law
According to Sunak, “If anyone is found to have broken the rules,” they should “face the full consequences of the law.”
Sunak Willing to “Boot” Members
After admitting he was “incredibly angry” over the news, Sunak claimed that those found guilty would be “booted out” of the Conservative Party.
Sunak Waits for Moment to Strike
Starmer immediately called on Sunak to remove the guilty members from the Party, and despite Sunak’s promises, he waited too long for the Labour leader’s liking.

Eventually, Sunak removed support for the guilty members; however, Starmer insisted the decision should have been made the week before.

Now, Starmer had to act faster than Sunak in order to retain public confidence, which his Party did successfully, avoiding disaster.
