The former Prime Minister, Liz Truss, furiously walked off stage after a wilted lettuce appeared on a banner behind her with the words “I crashed the economy.”
Book Tour Blunder
Truss was at Beccles, Suffolk, answering questions as part of her book tour when a campaign group Led by Donkeys performed the stunt.
Promoting Her Memoir or Trump?
She has been promoting her memoir, “Ten Years to Save the West: Lessons From The Only Conservative In The Room.”
“I Support Trump”
Truss was busily empressing her support for Trump, “I support Trump, and I want him to win”, she proudly declared to the audience, which was met with a few vocalised expressions of disapproval.
Truss Believes Trump Will Win
She continued, “It’s what I was saying a bit about incumbents. I think the average American is not doing well…” adding, “I think it was Bill Clinton’s advisor who said: ‘It’s the economy stupid.’ So I think he will, and he will probably win. I’ve got a load of Trump questions, by the way.”
Hypocritical Statement After Triggered Economy Crisis
Truss emphasised the importance of the economy, which seemed hypocritical after her “mini-budget” started the plunge of the UK economy, with repercussions still being experienced.
Nemesis Lettuce Makes Its Second Debut
After this bold remark, a banner was slowly lowered from the ceiling, revealing the wilted lettuce and the statement. The host was embarrassed and perplexed, declaring, “I have no idea where that came from.”
Liz Unaware Before Having It Pointed Out
At first, Truss seemed oblivious to the banner, but after some laughter from the audience and a man showing her the banner, she took note.
“That’s Not Funny”
Truss wasted no time, collected her things, said, “That’s not funny”, and stormed off the stage in apparent fury. To exasperate the situation, she wore a green dress that closely resembled the lettuce, making the timing all the more fitting.
Round Two for the Lettuce Wars
The prank was related to the nemesis lettuce featured by the British tabloid The Daily Star in 2022.

Liz Believes the Media Doesn’t Understand Her
Truss has previously described her encounters with the lettuce as “puerile” and claimed that the media did not understand her views and ideas.
Led by Donkeys Responsible for Prank
Led by Donkeys, posted the video on social media shortly after questioning her support for Trump by posting, “Liz Truss is on a pro-Trump speaking tour. So we dropped a strategically positioned remote-controlled lettice banner.”
“I Crashed the Economy”
The remark, “I crashed the economy,” was made in connection to the tax cuts that Truss implemented and her spending, which were blamed for the UK economic crisis.
UK Heading for ”Civil War”
This all occurred after Truss took to social media to show her support for Elon Musk, which is heavily controversial in light of his recent comments about the UK heading for “civil war.”
Truss a Musk Fan
Truss recently vocalised her support for Elon Musk, who has been aiding the spread of misinformation inciting the UK riots.
Free Speech Is Being Attacked
She turned to X, stating, “I am appalled by the attacks on free speech in Britain and Europe. We can’t be truly free without free speech. Good for Elon Musk and X for standing up to these bullies.
Prank Funnier Than Crisis
This prank has become viral, with many stating that it is funnier than her, making the cost of living crisis worse for hard-working people. The jury is out.
No Comment From Truss and Her Team
Truss and her team have said they will not comment on the stunt, but her storm off stage said it all.
