Sir Starmer has claimed that a Labour government would respect those who wish to change gender, but he has clarified his feelings about public spaces.

During a TV interview, Starmer claimed that he understood the plight of the transgender community.

Starmer said, “There are some people who don’t identify with the gender that they’re born into, they are very distressed by that” before issuing a promise.

The Labour leader also claimed that Labour would “treat everybody with respect and dignity” by not allowing a trans woman to use the women’s bathroom.

Starmer, who previously claimed that “99% of women have a vagina”, backtracked on this claim with a bold statement on the issue.
Agreeing With Blair on Trans Rights
Starmer u-turned on this recognition of trans women being ‘real’ women by agreeing with Tony Blair, claiming that “a woman has a vagina and a man has a penis”.
Single-Sex Spaces “Must Be Protected”
Starmer insisted that single-sex spaces, such as bathrooms and changing rooms, “must be protected” before issuing his opinion on gender education in schools.

Starmer claimed that the Labour Party will not allow gender to be taught in the UK’s primary schools.

Starmer was asked about Tony Blair’s definition of a woman, which he claimed was an easy question to answer.

Blair admitted he was “definitely of the school that says, biologically, a woman is with a vagina and a man is with a penis.”

Starmer was questioned on this take and praised Blair for his response, which differed to Starmer’s previous take.

The Labour leader claimed, “Yes, Tony’s right about that. He put it very well. I saw it reported, I’m not quite sure where he said it. But I agree with him on that.”
Starmer’s Controversial Stance
Now, Starmer has promised to stand up for biological women by keeping single-sex spaces for biological women only.
